Prompt # 4 April fifth, 2009 The truth about our expectations is that they are either too high for us to reach or once we reach them, we find that we are unsatisfied by the result. This is because we aren’t always realistic when we set goals. Some people might think that they can raise their grade from an F to an A in 6 weeks. You might be able to raise it a one or two letters grades, but most likely not all the way up to an A. When Pip was finally a gentleman, he wasn’t happy and wanted to remember or return to the old days with Joe and Biddy. We find ourselves with high expectations and low expectations, but we are never 1000% satisfied when we obtain them.
Prompt # 5 April fifth, 2009 The most important theme is that theme of loneliness and how, if it goes unchecked , people will do whatever possible to get attention. This is the most important theme because it’s one of the major reasons Curley’s wife dies. His wife was so lonely because no one would talk to her incase they got the wrath of her husband. Since she was left alone for such a long period of time, she did what she had to do to get any attention at all, even if it was considered “bad attention” (getting dressed up, doing her hair perfectly, and being around men without her husband.) She could only talk to Lennie because he’s the only one without a lot of will power not to which in turn, killed her. If she could have talked to other people in a real conversation, then the might not have died. This is why it is the most important theme.
November Twenty First, 2008 Prompt #2
From the book The Lord of the Flies, there are certain lessons that we can learn from. This book also allows ourselves to look at our society from an over all view point. One lesson that we learn is the lesson to keep our selves balanced because if we don't then we become consumed by the "beast" or become something we don't wish any one to see. One more lesson is, when the time comes around, we either run from ourselves or we approach ourselves. We are able to look from a different view than we normally do because we normally just look at ourselves, not everyone else included.
October Seventh, 2008 Prompt #1
There is always some truth in everything. In a myth the truth may not be what the story was explaining, but it could be how the people responded to a certain event, someone’s emotional state of mind, a quality found in most humans, or a simple fact like the sun rising in the east and setting in the west. When the myth was created it was considered true because there was no evidence to prove other wise. As long as we as humans can agree upon the simple facts found throughout myths then the story isn’t completely untrue, just certain parts of the story was proven wrong at different points in our history.
December sixteen, 2008 Truth in To Kill a Mocking Bird
In this book, many things are revealed to the human eye as truths. One of them is that we as human beings are prejudice in the way we think of people. Scout is prejudice towards what a Lady means. At first, the word Lady means to sit and do what you're told with little freedom to run around with the wind in your hair. In chapter 24, this idea is contradicted because Scout learns that these women are trying thier best to help change someones life that they believe is under privleged. Another truth is that humans are hypcrytical because one teacher thinks that what Hitler is doing to the Jews is wrong in every sense of the word yet she doesn't realize that she's acting as a "Hitler" to the African-American communtiy. There are many more truths in this story, but those are the most improtant ones
